Sunil Dutt was Hindi cinema's man of solid character, his earnest sincerity reflecting entirely in all his roles, be it Birju in Mother India or Bhola in Padosan.

Besides acting in a whopping 102 films, and directing six memorable films himself, Duttsaab successfully made the rare transition from film to politics, becoming a wonderfully congenial Congress minister.

rediff.com remembers the one and only Duttsaab.
