Sharon's visit

Eleven years after then Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao established diplomatic links with Israel in 1992 ties between the two nations have flourished under Atal Bihari Vajpayee's National Democratic Alliance government.

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon became the first Israeli leader to visit India this September. And though his journey to Mumbai on September 11 was called off after a terrorist attack in Jerusalem, the Indo-Israel relationship scaled a fresh peak with Tel Aviv selling New Delhi its best weaponry, including the Phalcon early warning systems, which gives the Indian Air Force enormous superiority over the Pakistan air force.
