INTERNATIONAL NEWS Mr California Californians recalled Governor Gray Davis and replaced him with political debutant Arnold Schwarzenegger on October 7. The candidature of the bodybuilder-turned-Hollywood star-turned-politician drew international attention. Schwarzenegger's campaign was dogged by allegations of racism and sexual misconduct. At least 16 women charged he had groped or harassed them. Responding to the sexual misconduct charges, the Terminator acknowledged he had 'behaved badly sometimes' and apologized. There were also accusations that he had idolized Adolf Hitler in his youth, charges he denied. Text: Ramananda Sengupta California recall on October 7
