For a man about to hit 30 a year from now, Peter Doherty hasn't shown many signs of maturity lately. The English musician currently fronting the band Babyshambles, has always managed to get more bad press than good. Which is sad, considering his band really has something going for it.

Pete first hit headlines thanks to his relationship with that former darling of the English press, waif-like supermodel Kate Moss. That, and his open and well-documented drug abuse.

In his biography, Doherty claimed to have worked as a prostitute and drug dealer, in order to raise money to fund his habit. While on tour with his earlier band, The Libertines, he even broke into an apartment and stole items that were later sold for drug money.

After he hit the big time, there were a number of arrests -- for everything from drug abuse to drunk driving, even driving without a proper licence. Nothing slowed Doherty down though.

He ended up pleading guilty to the possession of heroin, cannabis and crack cocaine, leading to time in jail as well as a lot of time at rehabilitation centres.

Kate Moss has long vanished from this troubled singer's life. Will jail and rehab cure him? His fans certainly hope so.
