Don't just brood!

Update your resume. It will keep you occupied and your mind off negative thoughts. Go for a functional resume format instead of a chronological one.

Network. Tell everyone you know that you are job hunting. They may not be able to offer you a job but may know someone who is looking for someone with your skills.

You can freelance or do non-profit work till you find a permanent job. This will allow you to use your skills and keep them sharp. Secondly, you will develop new contacts.

Devika, who recently found herself out of a job, says, "I have very specialised skills so it will take me a while to find a job. Rather than sit at home waiting for a job, I am using my time to work with an NGO that pays me much less but is rewarding in other ways.
