Adieu to Lord Ganesha

For one day every year, the streets of Mumbai are crowded with millions of people as they bid goodbye to their favourite God Ganesha.

Each year, on the tenth day of the Ganesha festival thousands of Ganesha idols journey to the lakes and seashores of Mumbai for immersion.

The atmosphere is filled with colours of gulal(colour powder) and cries of Ganpati Bappa Morya .

Seen in the picture is the one of the oldest and most popular Ganapati mandal, Lalbaug cha raja, which gets the honours to leave first and is immersed last after all the Ganesh idols are immersed.
