Two years after both parted ways at the Agra summit, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf met on the sidelines of the 12th South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation summit in Islamabad.

Musharraf welcomed Vajpayee with a characteristic firm handshake at the Aiwan-e-Sadar (President's house) and the two exchanged pleasantries before they held discussions. The meeting lasted for over an hour.

External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha, National Security Adviser Brajesh Mishra, Foreign Secretary Shashank and Indian High Commissioner Shiv Shankar Menon accompanied Vajpayee.
