Sonia Gandhi makes waves in UP

April 16, 2007
"Congress leaders gave their sweat when needed and also their blood. We are always there for you. We are not opportunistic in our affection for you," she added.

"We have a government at the Centre under Prime Manmohan Singh, which is doing very well. All big power projects and big dams were built here during Congress rule."

She ended by saying that the fate of the state was in their vote. The state would improve under Congress rule. At 1.26 pm she finished her speech by saying 'Jai Hind' and making the crowd repeat it.

After her speech Sonia came near the barricade that separates the stage from the people. She then walked along the front barricade for some time before she left.
