An official at the Palestinian embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, puts up a large portrait of the departed leader.

After the news of the death of Arafat came in, condolences poured in from leaders worldwide. US President George W Bush and British premier Tony Blair said the death was a key moment in the history of Palestine.

India, condoling the death, said it had lost a 'steadfast friend'.
