Aishwarya then signed on for Rituparno Ghosh's Bengali movie, Chokher Bali. The budget for entire film was supposedly less than her salary for Devdas.

The film went on to win great acclaim at some of the world's prestigious film festivals, including Cannes, Toronto, Venice and Locarno.
