Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas was hailed as India's most expensive film at Rs 50 crores (approximately $11 million). While critics gave it less than glowing reviews, its costumes, elaborate sets and brilliant colours brought international attention to the movie and to Ash.

Recently, when Ash was recuperating in the hospital after an accident on the sets of Khakee, she was reportedly sought by agents to play the next Bond girl.

While the media trumpeted the crossing over of Bollywood actors and actresses, the LA production company that franchises Bond denied the story a few weeks later.
