Maruti announces special incentive scheme for employees

Bowing to pressure from agitating employees, Maruti Udyog Ltd on Tuesday announced a new incentive scheme which would increase the average monthly cost to the company of an employee to Rs 33,767 as against Rs 22,000 at present.

The new incentive scheme comes into effect from November 1, 2000, MUL managing director Jagdish Khattar said.

The new incentive scheme would cost an additional Rs 500 million annually to the company.

The new scheme adopted by MUL gives incentives on increased productivity and has also brought in an element of quality of production in the scheme.

Khattar expressed hope that all other pending issues would be resolved soon and normalcy would be restored at the company's plant at Gurgaon.
