The Magnificent March 1995-2005

Steve Waugh couldn't conquer it and Ricky Ponting had to keep away from it. When the mantle fell on him, Adam Gilchrist led his team to the 'Final Frontier'.

Australia shattered India's 35-year dominance at home with embarrassing ease. The series, which was billed as a repeat of their epics of 2001 and 2003-04, was never going to live up to the hype, but Australia proved that there was no team second to them in the cricket world.

In Nagpur, India crashed to a 342-run defeat, its biggest ever in terms of runs, on the fourth day to give Australia an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the four-match series.

Australia had gone one up in the first Test in Bangalore and the second game, poised on a knife's edge, was drawn as rain spoiled India's chances on the final day.
