India had made 72 proposals to Pakistan as confidence-building measures on various issues, including peace and security and Jammu and Kashmir, during composite dialogues from June to September 2004, the Rajya Sabha was informed on Thursday.

Some recommendations, including resuming transport and communication links and sporting ties, restoring the strength of the high commissions, operationalising the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service and steps for release of fishermen and civilian prisoners under each other's custody, had been implemented by both the sides, Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed said in a written reply.

Some measures such as visa liberalisation and free medical treatment of Pakistani children had been implemented unilaterally by India, he said.

Some other proposals, such as opening of Atari-Wagah land route for trade and transit and interactions between armed forces of both sides, awaited Pakistani response.

India has agreed to start the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service across the Line of Control from April seven, 2005.

To another question, Ahamed said the proposal on Jammu-Sialkot bus link would be implemented once there was a positive response from Pakistan and details have been agreed upon.
