Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh sent the list of portfolios for the newly-formed Democratic Front ministry to Governor Mohammad Fazal on Friday morning.
According to the list, Deshmukh will hold the crucial urban development, revenue, law and judiciary and housing portfolios, while his deputy R R Patil will be in charge of the home ministry.
The chief minister will also head the urban land ceiling ministry, official sources said in Mumbai. Former deputy chief minister Vijaysinh Mohite-Patil will hold the rural development and tourism portfolios, while the other former deputy chief minister Chhagan Bhujbal will be heading the Public Works Department, excluding corporations, sources said.
Jayant Patil will continue to head the finance ministry, while Ashok Chavan has been allotted the industry ministry and Patangrao Kadam has been entrusted with rehabilitation and cooperation portfolios.
Harshavardhan Patil has got Marketing and EGS, while Ganesh Naik will head the state excise and environment.
Anees Ahmed will look after animal husbandry and dairy development ministry, while Dilip Walse-Patil will be in-charge of medical education and energy.
Twenty-five cabinet ministers and 13 ministers of state were sworn-in on November 9, while Deshmukh and Patil were administered the oath of office on November 1. The elections to the state assembly were held on October 13 and the results were declared on October 16.
Surupsingh Naik will look after the transport and port ministries. Ajit Pawar, the nephew of Maratha strongman Sharad Pawar, has been alloted water resources, excluding Krishna Valley Corporation. The corporation would be looked after by R Nimbalkar, the sources said.
Sureshdada Jain will head the ministry for higher technical education, while Vasant Purke will look after school education. Balasaheb Thorat has been entrusted with agriculture, while the lone woman minister in the DF government Vimal Mundada would look after the public health department.
Nawab Mailk has been alloted labour, Chandrakant Handore got social justice and Manohar Naik has been given food and drug administration.
Anil Deshmukh will look after the public undertakings, which falls under the PWD ministry, while Sunil Tatkare will hold
food and civil supplies. Babanrao Pachpute would take over the forest ministry, while Vinay Kore has been given the charge of non-conventional energy and horticulture.
Vijaykumar Gavit will head the portfolio of tribal development ministry in the newly-formed ministry in the
state.
