Pilgrims' Progress

More than a thousand Sikh devotees arrived in Pakistan from India by a special train on Tuesday, June 8, to observe Jore Mela, the death anniversary of Guru Arjan Dev.

The Sikh pilgrims will visit Nankana Sahib and the Gurdwara Janam Asthan, where Guru Nanak Dev was born. They will stay there for three days and perform various ceremonies.

During their four-day stay in Lahore the pilgrims will also visit the Gurdwara Panja Sahib in Hassan Abdal near Peshawar -- this is where Guru Nanak stopped a boulder from landing on him, merely by raising a hand -- and other places of historic interest.
