Volunteers help unload relief material into a makeshift relief centre at the Rupavahini office in Colombo. Sri Lanka has launched a massive humanitarian operation after tsunamis devastated much of the island's coastline, killing thousands.

Offers for help have started pouring in. Unicef has already provided more than 30,000 blankets, sleeping mats and t-shirts. A relief flight from Copenhagen will also ferry 45 tonnes of medical supplies from Copenhagen to Colombo.
