What is the case against Uma Bharti?

Gaur was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Balram Jakhar at a simple function in Raj Bhawan.

Earlier, Bharti submitted her resignation to the governor.

She is likely to reach Hubli in Karnataka, where a non-bailable arrest warrant has been issued against her in a 1994 riot case, Tuesday morning.

On August 14-16, 1994, way before the Bharatiya Janata Party came to hold the reins of power at the Centre, Bharti had led an agitation and hoisted the tricolour at the Idgah Maidan in Hubli, Karnataka.

Since the ground was disputed, and the BJP activists had defied an order banning assembly at the spot, a criminal case was filed against Bharti and 21 others.

Bharti on Monday said she will unfurl the national flag at the same ground on Tuesday.
