Message: Why the Govt is not holding dialouge with hijackers directly? Why they are wasting time? Govt should do something immediately.Hold direct talk and if it fails smashed the craft with our black cat comando. We may loose some person but we can save most of them. Apeal to Muslim Community:people from this community should protest against Osama bin laden's apeal loudly.Do you think India is threat of Islam?Do you think this community is unsafe in india?Don't mess up with militants and religion. It's very surprising that not a single person is protesting .Please come forward everybody.

Message: Whatever decision has to be taken fast, as time is most important factor. a temporary retreat but a tactical one should not beseen as a case of weakness.Nation should remain one at this hour of crisis. media specially Zee is overplaying the situation and in its enthusiasm to probe into the latest news is disclosing and discussing plans and ideas which shouldnot be openely spoken at this hour of crisis in the national interest.Govt. must intervene and stop the Zee broadcast which is crossing its limits.

Message: The Govt. is being criticised for not storming the plane in an entebbe like operation. However, if they had done so and it resulted in several casualities, the same people who criticise the GOvt. for not doing it will now attack the Govt for doing it. The Govt should avail of all diplomatc means to get the passengers released. In order to avoid future incidents of this sort India should: 1. Attack the POK camps that harbor these terrorists, 2. Work closely with the US and Russia to destroy these fundamentalists chiefly Bin Laden, 3. Install our own security systems before passengers board flights particularly from countries like Nepal with poor security systems. 4.Dont be soft on any organization/individuals that are known to be involved in terrorist activities- this includes people like Madani who was inviolved in the Coimbatore blasts. Now that Bin Laden has named India, Russia and USA as the prime enemies of Islam, it is also a diplomatic oppurtunity to co-ordinate global antiterrorist activities and also reign in the PAK ISI. Sincerely Ven Hari

Message: The govt should not accede the demands of the terrorists, NEVER. I sympathize with the relatives, but remember these jailed terrorists have killed hundreds of civilians and army personnel. I think a textbook commando operation is in order, the terrorists are presumably tired and without sleep.

Message: It is a shame that the airlines of the country are what they are? Add to it the political bungling, innocent lives are lost. Who is answerable? One day it was little girl in a escalator, another day it is a group of honeymooners? At this rate India will be left with only power-hungry, unscrupulous politician with all the younger generations either migrating, or killed in such ways. Shame on you politicians? Learn from the Americans to look after your own.

Message: NO WAY! Today it is the god damn Maulana tomorrow it will be somebody else. My suggestion give the hijackers an ultimatum. If they do not release any passengers start shooting their Harkat Ul blah blah brotheren every hour. Yes I would go with this even if my son was aboard that aircraft. Also it is no point blaming the Govt. They are being cautious and any one in their place would have done the same. The other alternative is to launch a STING operation. The advantage on our side is the element of surprise. I wonder if the Govt is thinking in those terms

Message: Yes ,lives of the crew and passengers must be saved at any cost.

Message: I firmly believe that the Indian government should not bow down to ANY demands of the hijackers. Let the diplomatic facade take place. But the government should send a counter strike unit to Afganistan with a mission to kill each and every one of the hijackers and the safe release of the passengers, without further delay. Only actions like this will send a clear message to the terrorists involved in subversive activities on the Indian soil. We may risk the lives of our innocents and loved ones, but will not tolerate terrorism at any cost. This would still have been my course of thinking and action even if I had my own family memeber on board the flight. I pray for the family of Rupin Katyal.

Message: Those rats would never dare do this with an American plane because Uncle Sam would not lose a minute in pumping a dozen bullets into each rat's dirty face. Similarly, we need to demonstrate a don't-screw-with-me attitude by slaughtering those rats with some crisp anti-terrorist action, borrowed from another country, if necessary. Though I'm sure our own commandos are quite capable and itching to smash their boots into the stinking mouths of those rats. Basically: GOVERNMENT, GO KILL!

Message: We have already lost one life and there should be no more loss of passengers or crew members. Since 48 hours have passed since the hijack tookplace, the condition of the passengers and crew onboard should be considered. Our Govt should have taken war front measures to bringback the passengers at any cause but it is ashamed that 48 hrs have passed without any improvement. about 28 passengers were been released that too for exchange of fuel. Considering the passengers and their relatives, our govt. shall even think for releasing Maulana Masood Azhar atleast now and bring back the 814 with all the passengers. This is our primary task.

Name: s.k.saksena
Email: saksena6@bom8.vsnl.net.in
Message: Yes, provided the safety of the passengers and the crew is assured. Thereafter, the country should put its security act together, i.e. the govt. agencies, the airlines. Jumping from one Kargil to another, is a reflection of our 'chalta hai' attitude in all walks of life.

Name: Hareesh
Email: anonymous@usa
Message: The feelings of the relatives can be understood. But when it comes to the nations interest, country comes first. If the matter is just going to end with the release of this terrorist then it is fine in releasing him. If the hijackers decide to go for more demands like, a referrundum under UN in Kashmir, then under NO CIRCUMSTANCES the NATIONS INTERESTS have to sacrificed. I actually want to warn the Governament of India, through rediff.com, that these hijackers may free only few more passengers on release of their terrorist brothers. Then they may take the rest again to some 'friendly' country. There they may rise this issue on Kashmir. There is a good possibility of this. SO BE CAREFUL. DO NOT SACRIFICE NATIONS INTERESTS.

Read what other readers said:

'Get into Afghanistan and kill the hijackers'

'The Govt should directly talk with the hijackers and release the passengers without succumbing to their demands'

'Distract the hijackers, storm the plane, shoot the criminals and rescue the hostages'

'An SOP must be in place, formulated without a second's delay'

'We should do an operation a la Entebbe whatever the consequences'

'The best course of action would be to storm the plane and rescue the hostages'
