Message: I strongly think that the Indian Government Should inform the Pak Govt that they (Pak) are resposible for all the consequences & they should be given a time frame in which they solve the problem. a 13 year old concerned Indian.

Name: sai kishore
Email: skishore@virtualipgroup.com
Message: should not bend to the terrorist's demand.it may result in another such dramas

Name: Nikhil Lakhkar
Email: alecsmart@spanmail.com
Message: I feel that a Raid on Entebbe Part II is in order now. The only problem is that the aircraft is in enemy territory! If only the Taliban can be convinced somehow... sigh!

Name: Nagaraj Prasadh
Email: prasadh@eth..net
Message: The best course of action would be to storm the plane and rescue the hostages. Taleban can be asked to misk some sleep inducing drug with the food or water and then take a chance with the storming. At least the drama will end this way.

Name: azam
Email: emaza@usa.net
Message: the govt has lost a good opportunity at amritsar. atleast now they must speak effectively with taliban & plan to storm the plane. taliban has to be questioned why anil khurana was made to board back the plane after treatment at the hospital. it looks as though taliban is in full consonance with the hijackers. india should take a tough stand against such state sponsored terrorist activities. otherwise the govt is likely to loose its credibility

Name: Ragupathi Muthusamy
Email: rmuthusa@yahoo.com
Message: Our Objectives ============== 1. To secure the release of all passengers. 2. Not to loose India's prestige to a few blackmailers. Solutions ========= There are two solutions. 1. Learn the weak points of Taliban, be it is military action, economic blockade, diplomatic pressure, diplomatic concessions or whatever it may be. Then force/persuade Taliban to allow NSG to take control of the situation. Let NSG eliminate the evils with minimal casualities. 2. If solution-1 is not possible at all, then CONCEDE to hijackers demands and secure the safe release of passengers. Then PUNISH the Taliban, Kashmir militants and all other useless bastards related to this cowardly incident by all of India's military might, so that others will never think about this kind of act. =========== -Ragu

Message: i think that they should not do that ... i.e. release the hostages but rather should take action with the able help of the countries willing to help us including the U.S. and may be the U.N. too can help us... this might be the way out. there is no point releasing the hostages. may be they have to resort to this if they realised that there is no chance to attack them...

Message: NO!!! its after the release of rubia sayeed, the terrorrism increased in kashmir. We are being perceived as a soft state and as a result we are being taken to ransom by terrorrists. we should not have allowed the plane to take off from our territories. i wish that all the passengers and crew members would be released safely.

Name: Yash Pal Lakra
Email: ylakra@aol.com
Message: This is a very difficult and trying situation. Immediate response is to save the life of the hostages. But in the long run this is a wrong course. This only ecourages the terrorists. The plane has to be stormed and take the chances of saving as many hostages as possible. Negotiation with the hijackers is alright but do not release the prisoners.

Message: MAULANA MASOOD SHOULD NOT BE RELEASED.

Name: Saurabh
Email: agarwalsau@hotmail.com
Message: Bring Forward the terrorist whoose release is sought and ask them to condemn the action of their colegues. If they refuse to do that then they should be treated as acessory to conpiracy to the hijaking and responsible to killing of passengers on the flight and treated accordingly

Name: Priyank
Email: pgovila@collegeclub.com
Message: The govt. should definitely release Maulana Masood in exchange for the passengers. When 7 terrorists were released in exchange for a minister's daughter (Rubaiya Sayeed) in 1989, nobody questioned the move. So why the delay now?? Why do we have to be guilty of follwing double standards ... always??

Name: Vasu
Email: Vkolli99@yahoo.com
Message: As someone rightly quoted ' Kasmir will not be lost if one person is freed ' . Yes, I strongly belive that person under custody should be released for saving 160 civilians (who has got nothing to do with either Kashmir or ISI or Taliban). I guess we still remember the dirty episode happened soem years back where a noted politician offspring was rescued from the abductors by releasing 6 terrorists. Today it's a different situation, 1 dirty soul and 160 innocent people. Neverthless, it's an awkward situation for the officials, but there is no other go. Release him and take care these security lapses doesn't happen in future. Well, everyone knows how prone we are for this scary tricks. There is a a serious threat to our nation by our own system and security measures.

Name: Virendra
Email: virendragupta@yahoo.com
Message: No If we release one then there will be no end to thier demands. There is no gurantee regarding thier release even after meeting thier demands. We should stay firm and deal with all such incidents in a simmilar fashion.

Name: girish
Email: nandgiri@vsnl.com
Message: to all the passengers on board & their realatives at Delhi airport, Please accept the sympanthies of all of us who are very much concern of the happenings & are with you for any kind of assistance. But do not insist on succumbing to the demands of the hijackers to INDIAN Govt. It need your moral support also to fight the situation for all of us at international level.

Name: Nilangshu Haldar
Email: nhaldar@hotmail.com
Message: 1. Shoot all the terrorists they want released. 2. Send them Mufti's daughter in exchange of the passengers. 3. Send them the Kathmandu Airport officials in exchange of the passengers 4. Send them a few hundred politicians as well.

Name: Balasubramanian
Email: balu1@singnet.com.sg
Message: Step 1: Get back the passengers safely by releasing the terrorists Step 2: Kill all the terrorists in the prison currently once the passengers safely reach India Step 3: Announce this publicly to the world Step 4: Deal with the "criminal rights groups" (the real name of human rights groups) in firmly when they make noise

Name: Priyadarsini
Email: priya@mailcity.com
Message: No, the terrorist should not be released. In future, when terrorists are captured , they should be executed immediately and not kept in jail for so man years, as this is like keeping a live bomb.

Name: Mrs. Anita Rajaram
Email: jitam@omantel.net.om
Message: Yes -- the Govt. should release the person wanted by the hi-jackers in exchange for the lives of the crew and passengers.

Name: sankar
Email: sasank@rediff.com
Message: The Government should not make that mistake come what may. Once released, the same episode will continue in future also. The Government should send a task force and storm the plane with the help of Taliban. But I am very much doubtful that they will agree for this.

Name: Bishnupada Ghosh
Email: bishnupadag@yahoo.com
Message: NO, Indian Govt.should not give in to any kind of pressure in releasing Masood.

Name: Sethuraman V.S.
Email: geminisoft@vsnl.com
Message: If I were at the help of affairs, I would first release Maulana Masood and act subsequently to avenge the hijackers. It is sad that PM has announced "We wont bend" This is not the time to express any view which will make the hijackers to take action which will not have desirable effect. We should see the whole lot of ramnifications and try to act swiftly by holding talks to the culprits. No doubt it is a cowardly act. But we do allow such actions inadvertantly inspite of "security measures"

Name: Ankit Saxena
Email: ankit_82@hotmail.com
Message: In my view the goverment should not release Maulana Masood but instead of that they should try to save the lives of all the pessengers in the plane without releasing them.I am sure that the delhi govt and police is capable of doing that.

Message: WELL THERES LOT OF TALK ABOUT SECULARISM. MINISTERS MINT MONEY USING THE SUBJECT.CONGRESS PRESIDENT WANTS TO GIVE HER INVALUABLE LIFE SO AS TO PROTECT THE BAHUS AND BAHINS OF INDIA AGAINST ANTI-SECULAR FORCES. GOD GIVE US SOME SENSE. ISLAM(only around 20% of indians follow the religion) IS CREATING HAVOC TO OUR BELOVED COUNTRY.AND WE CRY ' HAIL SECULARISM'. WE KNOW THAT THERE ARE SOME HINDUS WHO ARE QUITE SAFE IN 'MUSLIM' AFGANISTAN(atleast the last time there was news about them ).SIMILARLY EVEN MUSLIMS IN INDIA WILL BE SAFE.BUT ONE RELIGION, ONE RACE HAS TO DOMINATE(even small countries like singapore follow this policy where its an accepted policy for the chinese to dominate and in case of malaysia the malays). and please dont talk about secularism , becos the first condition for secularism is that all religions should try to tolerate each other. are the muslims being tolerant towards the hindus.down the alleys of time have they ever been tolerant????? and to the rediff team. please in future dont write articles on kashmir. have you ever imagined leading the life of a soldier from your air-conditioned and computerizes savvy offices. have you every felt how it is to loose your brother,or your sister's husband when they were trying to protect the life of millions of ungrateful citizens. yes, there is violation of human rights. but mind you we mean 'human'. it refers to 'homosapiens'. thers a slight difference with animals. and i'm sure even the most compassionate of humans wont cry for ' human rights' to be provided to dogs or boars. at the max we can give them animal rights and precisely we should do do. may good sense prevail on us indians. we say our politicians are bad and ....... ARE WE ANY DIFFERENT ??????

Message: there has been a terrible goof up by the indian authorities when the IA flight was on indian skies .. especially when it was in Amritsar.. some kind of crack operation should have been taken at thattime.. if the brave pilot of the flight had the guts to land at Amritsar.. there was no reason for such a lax attitude taken by the indian authorities at that time.. Now , there is no question of releasing the terrorists .. if this happens lot more of these incidents will take place. It is time for us to take some hard decisions in this direction..a couple of terrorists cannot hold the Indian brave spirit to ransom JAI HIND.

Name: sukanya
Email: sukan_rao@yahoo.com
Message: However extreme it may seem,I feel the Indian Government should resist armtwisting tactics and say for every passenger being killed, one of the extremists must be killed in the indian jails.

Name: hindustani
Email: ramnryn@yahoo.com
Message: No negotiations. If any more passengers are killed, storm the plane and shoot those bastards dead. Torture this Maulana faulana whoever he is to death. That should be a lesson to those bloody Islamic militant scoundrels.

Name: Srikanth
Email: srikanth_krishna@hotmail.com
Message: One thing is clear - drastic, immediate action is called for. Afghanistan (read taliban + Osama) is NOT our friend. But surely, our armed forces/commandoes are better equipped than them..? Any information/request for permission passed on to Taliban will automatically reach the hijackers, no doubt...A surprise operation without even the taliban being made aware of it is what is called for. After all, don't the US & Israel do it all the time? WHAT, OR WHOM IS INDIA AFRAID OF???

Name: Longpole1
Email: longpole1@hotmail.com
Message: A tragedy can be turned into triumph with compassion and vision. This is an excellent opportunity to send commandos to Kandhar. Talibans should be informed of the mission and told to stay out of harm's way. The lulled hijackers can be can be easily overpowered, particularly if there are no large weapons as is now known. If Taliban intervenes on behalf of hijackers and resists or warns hijackers, they are exposed and all the terrorist camps inside Afghanistan should be destroyed by Indian Air Force To comprehend this requires, confidence, mettle, compassion and vision.

Read what other readers said:

'Get into Afghanistan and kill the hijackers'

'The Govt should directly talk with the hijackers and release the passengers without succumbing to their demands'

'Distract the hijackers, storm the plane, shoot the criminals and rescue the hostages'

'An SOP must be in place, formulated without a second's delay'

'We should do an operation a la Entebbe whatever the consequences'

'The Govt should avail of all diplomatic means to get the passengers released'
