Police officer Anant Srivastav (Amitabh Bachchan), along with his team Shekhar Sachdev (Akshay Kumar) and Ashwini Gupte (Tusshar Kapoor), have been assigned to escort dangerous terrorist and ISI agent Iqbal Ansari (Ajay Devgan) from Chandigarh to Mumbai.

But there is an unseen enemy who does not want this group to reach Mumbai.

After a brilliant role in Anees Bazmee's Deewangee, Devgan plays a man with negative shades in Khakee.

Aishwarya Rai pairs up with Akshay Kumar for the first time; theirs is the only love angle in the film.

Santoshi's earlier film The Legend Of Bhagat Singh had to compete with four other films on the same martyr and the director had to race against time to release his film before the others. He did not succeed. Guddu Dhanoa's 23rd March 1931 -- Shaheed opened on the same day as Santoshi's film.

This time, though, Santoshi has a head start. His cop flick opens ahead of other cop films like Govind Nihalani's Dev (Bachchan, Om Puri, Fardeen Khan, Kareena Kapoor) and Madhur Bhandarkar's Aan (Shatrughan Sinha, Akshay Kumar, Jackie Shroff and Suniel Shetty.

Khakee is scheduled for a January release.
