Bollywood stars Fardeen Khan and Rahul Bose went on the streets of Mumbai on World Aids Day (December 1) spread awareness against AIDS.

While Rahul attended a function on AIDS, Fardeen visited Mumbai's red light area to spread awareness on AIDS. "I am here to tell you all that we have to educate ourselves and fight this disease," said Fardeen. "There are 5 million people who have acquired this disease and it is high time we take it seriously and fight out the virus," added the actor.

The function was held at Alankar theatre at Falkland Street, a red light area in Mumbai. The Janasheen star was invited by the non-governmental organisation, Population Services International.

The audience listened attentively and cheered when Khan asked them about his film Jungle. 'Maaza Aaya' [It was fun!], they chorused.

The organisers had arranged a free show of Ram Gopal Varma's Jungle.

Bose said, "We have reached a critical point in this case and we should not be too late to say openly 'Practice safe sex.' If we take this step now, our future generation will be safe."

"We are the second largest country in the world to be infected with HIV positive population. We cannot be proud of this. We have to fight this disease if we want our country to be stronger. So let us all unite on this day and say 'No to Aids'," concluded Khan.
