Meet the Contenders

Thomas Moody

The youngest of the all the contenders at 39 years, Moody and Steve Waugh were the first Australians to win the World Cup twice. He was never a big success on the international stage (8 Tests and 34 ODIs) but extensive experience in county and first-class cricket makes him eligible for the job of India coach.

But, perhaps, the biggest plus in his favour is that he is looking to prove himself on the international stage having already stated his intention to coach Australia or England at some point in his career. A hands-on cricketer who bowled medium-pace, he was a superb outfielder and could strike the ball really well.

He will have his work cut out, but is hungry. Sometimes that is all you need to make a name. He is currently director of cricket at Worcestershire.

Will India find the right coach?
