The Pigeon HoleThe Pigeon Hole

Friday March 27, 2001 :We can still win the series
I believe that a team can continue a streak if they play well. If we concentrate real hard and play as well as we can.

Friday March 23, 2001 :Without doubt the best series I've played in
The Indians are a very different prospect at home from what they are abroad. When they come to Australia, they seem to be beaten even before they arrive.

March 19, 2001: One unusual dismissal turned the tide against us
There is still some way to go in the Test and we will try our best to turn things around once again tomorrow.

March 18, 2001: All the guys in this team are proven match-winners
Our self-belief is still in tact and this one defeat notwithstanding, we still back ourselves to win this series.

March 15, 2001: A sad feeling to see our victory streak come to an end
Basically the Test showed what one partnership can do -- it can decide the fate of the game.

March 14, 2001: Full marks to Laxman
"The batting of Laxman and Dravid on the fourth day will decide the course of the second Test"

February 28, 2001: You have to doff your hat to Gilly and Hayden
Scoring 150-plus runs at over six an over in a Test is no mean achievement, and you have to doff your hat to Gilly and Hayden for making it happen. That period of play is why we are in the driver’s seat.

February 26, 2001: Patience will be the key if we need to do well
The games gave us an indication of how different conditions here are when compared to back home. Patience will be the key if we need to do well, and we must hold on to every chance that comes our way.

February 22, 2001: The guy I fancy my chances against is certainly Sourav Ganguly
He is the one I plan to target and I am confident that I'll be successful against him in the forthcoming series. I have got him out quite a few times in the past, and I'm sure he remembers that. He is a little uncomfortable against short-pitched bowling, and I plan to test him with a lot of that stuff. Another factor in my favour when it comes to Ganguly is the fact that my natural line and length tends to make me successful against left-handers.

February 19, 2001: I have my work cut out
I am quite aware of the fact that I have my work cut out during the forthcoming series. It is certainly hugely disappointing that Brett Lee is not part of the tour. Indians are always a little tentative against raw pace, and Lee would have been an asset to the side. He is much quicker than the rest of us and would have added a great deal of aggression to our attack.
