M Karunanidhi is all set to take over the reigns of Tamil Nadu from J Jayalalthaa.

For the first time in its history, Tamil Nadu is poised to have a coalition government.

The Left Front has captured power in Kerala while holding on to its other bastion, West Bengal.

Despite its losses in Kerala and to some extent in West Bengal, the Congress is upbeat. The party has retained power in Pondicherry and is likely to share power with its allies in Assam and in Tamil Nadu.
