One minute of fameGeorge Abraham (executive director, Society for Communication and Research and pioneer of cricket for the blind in India) almost didn't make it to the Olympic torch relay. Invited barely 24 hours before the Indian torch relay team left India, he caught the flight to Atlanta by the skin of his teeth. George was a replacement for one of the original set of five torch bearers who would represent India at the Olympic Games (the torch, as it made its journey though the United States, would be borne by hands belonging to varied nationalities). But that did not diminish the honour of the event. He tells Savera R Someshwar of his tryst with the Olympics.
