SPORT Kings and queens Vishwanathan Anand was not the only Indian to make giant strides on the 64 squares arena. Koneru Humpy, India's youngest grandmaster, won the Asian women's championship in Doha while Krishnan Sasikiran took the Asian men's crown. Grandmasters Dibyendu Barua and Abhijit Kunte emerged triumphant in the Commonwealth and British Championships respectively. Barua, Surya Sekhar Ganguly, International Master Neelotpal Basu, and Sasikiran also clinched berths in the FIDE World Championship next year. Women Grandmaster Aarthie Ramaswamy, Women Grandmaster S Vijayalakshmi, Dronavali Harika, Bhagyashree Thipsay, and Tania Sachdeva will accompany Humpy to the women's World Championship next year.
