Zee Churchill rout Punjab Police

Zee Churchill routed Punjab Police 5-1 in their 15th match to move to the second spot with a match in hand in the Tata National Football League standings in Margao on Sunday.

Churchill, who led 3-0 at half time, scored through Yusif Yakubu (25th, 42nd), Roque Barretto (30th), Sayed Amin Mousavi (58th) and substitute Somatai Shaiza (72nd).

Punjab Police came close to scoring thrice early on but failed to captalise.

Resting their key players for their next match against East Bengal, Churchill played 4-3-3 system instead of 4-4-2 as they bought in striker Mousavi in place of defender Osumanu Husseini.

The Churchill strikers, Adbul Saley, Yakubu and Amin, made inroads into rival half keeping rival defence on the back foot all the time.

Zee Churchill with eight wins, five draw and two losses have collected 29 points from 15 matches and are second behind Vasco, who have 31 points from 16 matches.

Punjab Police, who suffered their 13th loss, remained at the bottom of standings with 7 points.
