Salgaocar whip Tollygunge

Former champions Salgaocar exploited a sloppy defence to trounce Kolkatta challengers Tollygunge Aggragami 4-1 in a National Football League match at the Salt Lake stadium in Kolkata n Monday.

Striker Sunday Seah fired in two goals while Alex Ambrose and Majek Bolaji chipped in with a goal each in a lop-sided contest, which saw the home team give a poor account of themselves.

Striker Akim Obolenle scored the consolation goal for the hosts.

The Goans, champions in the third edition of the tournament in 1988-89, were keen to improve their position on the points table and turned on the heat from the very beginning. It saw them slam all the four goals in the first half itself.

he visitors could have won by a bigger margin had they not frittered away a number of easy scoring opportunities that came their way, particularly in the first half.

With this emphatic victory, Salgaocar have 20 points from 12 matches while Tollygunge remain static on 12, from as many outings, having lost their last two matches.
