Humpy emerges sole leader

Indian Woman Grandmaster Koneru Humpy emerged sole leader after the fourth round in the First Saturday Grandmasters tournament in Budapest, Hungary.

The World junior chess champion, playing with white pieces, easily beat Sandor Biro of Hungary in her fourth round match on Tuesday to take her points tally to 3.5.

In the fifth round, the Andhra lass, who has an Elo rating of 2464, plays with black against Grandmaster Spassov Liuben of Bulgaria, who has 0.5 points.

Peter Horvath and Tiber Fogarasi of Hungary occupy the second spot, with three points each.

The First Saturday GM tournament, which began on October 6, ends on October 17. Twelve players from various countries like Hungary, Yugoslavia, Syria, Qatar, Vietnam, Bulgaria and India are participating.
