Delhi police teams on Monday fanned to five states including Gujarat, pursuing vital leads in the probe into serial blasts in the capital, even as some people detained by the police were being quizzed for clues about Mohammed Subhan Usman Qureshi alias Tauqeer and three others.

Sleuths of central intelligence agencies and Delhi police conducted raids at various places in the walled city and Jamia Nagar localities and detained people with suspected links to the banned outfit Students Islamic Movement of India.

A Delhi police team was in Ahmedabad to study any similarities between the blasts there and in the capital. Teams were also rushed to Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Senior officials associated with the probe said that a few people have been detained as they could provide vital links as to where the bombers had stayed during their visit to the national capital.

The Delhi police said that the investigations were progressing in the right direction. "The investigations are progressing on the right track. But we cannot reveal all the details as it will hamper the investigations," Delhi police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat said.

Bhagat said police will soon release the sketches of the suspected bombers. The sketches were prepared with the help of five eye-witnesses.

In Ahmedabad, the City's Deputy Commissioner of Police of Crime Branch Abhay Chudasma, when asked about the involvement of the Ahmedabad blast accused in the serial blasts in New Delhi, declined to comment but said they were in touch with the Delhi police.

Qureshi alias Tauqeer is the most wanted person in connection to the serial blasts in Delhi. He is said to have traveled to the national capital and Uttar Pradesh two weeks before the Saturday blasts, besides being the alleged mastermind in a series of bombings in the country.

Besides Qureshi, the probe pointed to the involvement of three persons hailing from Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh and the Delhi police was trying to find their whereabouts.

The Uttar Pradesh police has not been cooperative and has asked the Delhi police to come armed with a warrant before conducting raids, the sources claimed.
