The Bharatiya Janata Party condemned the serial blasts that rocked the national capital on Saturday. Party president, Rajnath Singh said that the 19 incidents of terror have taken place after the United Progressive Alliance formed the government. Singh said these incidents took place unabated, thanks to the "soft policy" on terror of the UPA.

Singh said, "I assure that we will drive out every terrorist from the country once the Bharatiya Janata Party comes to power. I also assure that once in power we will hang Afzal Guru, the conspirator of the Parliament attack case."

Leader of opposition, L K Advani said that investigations conducted by the Gujarat police had revealed that the next target for a terror attack was New Delhi.

Advani said that Narendra Modi had told the prime minister that investigations had revealed that terror groups were planning to target New Delhi after Ahmedabad. However this warning was not acted upon, hence now it will be wrong to blame the incident as an intelligence failure.

Advani criticised Dr Manmohan Singh for being a failure on all fronts including national security.
