Charging the Centre with appeasing minorities for electoral gains, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Saturday called for a nationwide agitation to highlight the 'oppression of Hindus'.

'Purohit supplied RDX for Samjhauta blast'

"On one hand, the government is not executing death sentence to Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru and on the other it is torturing an innocent person like Sadhvi Pragya Singh, who has been falsely implicated in the Malegaon blast case," VHP leader Venkatesh Abdev said.

"If a blast takes place due to firecrackers in Diwali at a Hindu's house, the government will say that the Hindu was making a bomb and if there is a blast in a Muslim's house or mosque, it will say it has been carried out by a Hindu," Abdev said.

"Why these double standards," he asked.

The agitation would comprise dharnas, demonstrations, vehicle rallies and also an e-mail campaign highlighting the government's 'double standards', Abdev said.
