The sensational double murder which rocked this town could have been averted had the murdered domestic help Hemraj tipped police about threat to his life from teenaged girl Arushi's father Rajesh Talwar, the police said on Friday.
Hemraj had spoken about the threat to his life from Talwar, the dentist who allegedly killed Arushi and the domestic help, to some of his friends after he came to know about his alleged illicit relationship with a doctor colleague.
Talwar was apparently "angry" over Hemraj discussing his private life with his acquaintances, Meerut zone inspector general Gurdarshan Singh told reporters announcing the arrest of the dentist in the twin murder case.
"We could have averted the murders had Hemraj informed us about threat to his life," he said.
