The Election Commission of India has issued a notice to Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde for violating the model code of conduct. Shinde was in Bengaluru on Saturday and in a press conference announced that his party would provide free and uninterrupted power. Shinde was in Bengaluru as part of the election campaign for the Congress party.
The Election Commission of India took note of the press conference and also the promises made by him and issued a notice to him for violating the model code of conduct. He has been asked to reply to the notice in 48 hours, Deputy Chief Election Commissioner R Bhattacharya told media persons on Saturday.
Meanwhile, a release from the Congress party says that it would respond to the notice in 48 hours as mandated by the Election Commission of India.
