Senior leaders of Pakistan's ruling coalition partners the Pakistan's People's Party and the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz -- will resume talks for the fourth day in Dubai on Thursday, about finalising a deal to reinstate deposed judges, while insisting that there is no threat to the government.
"We have made progress during seven hours of marathon meetings, but there are still differences on certain legal issues," Chaudhry Nisar, PML-N parliamentary leader in the National Assembly, said.
Nisar said the negotiations would continue today to reach a decision. "We are very hopeful of positive results," he said.
Regarding the already expired April 30 deadline set by both parties on the reinstatement of the judges, Nisar said, "It makes no difference if it takes some more days."
PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif, along with his senior party members, met PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and his party leaders at a hotel in Dubai on Wednesday.
Zardari had made it clear that there was no threat to the coalition government.
"We have agreed in principle to reinstate the deposed judges but we are still finalising certain legal issues," he told reporters.
The talks, however, failed to break the deadlock as both the leaders were unable to sort out their differences on modalities for restoring the Supreme Court judges.
Sharif had rushed to Dubai on Wednesday night for in-camera talks with Zardari, who had two days of inconclusive talks with PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif.
