Bharatiya Janata Party leader L K Advani's office confirmed that he would be visiting Ahmedabad on Sunday to access the situation following the serial blasts on Saturday and hold talks with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. Their first task is to ensure that no communal violence takes place in the state.
"Advaniji is going there and we will inform the media when he returns," BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad told rediff.com.
Meanwhile BJP President Rajnath Singh told newsmen that the terrorists were getting bolder. He also spoke to Modi and asked all political parties to join hands in fighting terrorism. He alleged that the country had become unsafe for common people. "5,000 sleeper modules" have come up in last few years, he alleged.
Taking the United Progressive Alliance government to task for repealing the stringent Prevention of Terrorism Act, the BJP President said the need for an anti-terror law was strongly felt at the Centre and in the states. "But the UPA government has not only repealed POTA but it has also been sleeping over the anti-terror laws like GUJCOCA (an anti-terror law adopted by the Gujarat assembly)," said Singh.
