The Samajwadi Party continues to maintain suspense on speculation whether it would formally join the United Progressive Alliance government or not.

Party general secretary Amar Singh, who has been maintaining a diplomatic stand on the issue, kept everyone guessing on Frday also when asked about it.

"I am a humble party worker, this question should be posed either to party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav or UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi," he said in response to the query, adding that "there is no such case right now."

On being asked whether the party had sought any portfolios, Amar Singh said, "There is no such communication with any of the UPA constituents. We don't want to create friction among the coalition partners."

He added that SP won't provide any discomfiture to the UPA coalition.

Regarding the party's take on reforms, the SP leader said his party had a positive outlook towards reforms except in the retail sector, saying, "Big retail giants are taking up the space of small traders."

When asked to react to news reports about Anil Ambani's companies' stock prices going up ever since SP joined the UPA coalition, Dr Singh quipped, "I am not a spokesperson of any of Anil Ambani's companies and I am also not on the board of any of his companies. He is only a personal friend."
