National Democratic Alliance constituent Janata Dal-United on Thursday expelled two of its MPs for defying the party whip and voting in favour of the United Progressive Alliance government during the confidence motion on July 22.

Ram Swaroop Prasad, MP from Nalanda in Bihar, was expelled for voting for the UPA government in defiance of the JD-U whip, while P P Koya, MP from Lakshdweep was expelled for being absent during the voting.
The decision was taken in a meeting of national office bearers of the party held on Thursday under the leadership of Sharad Yadav.
