An immediate expansion of the Union Cabinet is unlikely, authoritative sources said on Sunday, in the backdrop of reports that such a move was being thought of to woo leaders of smaller parties ahead of the trust vote in Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
"As of now, we are not thinking of expansion (of the Cabinet)," the sources said.
The United Progressive Alliance government is confident of winning the trust vote and does not intend to hold parliamentary elections this year to end the political instability.
"Elections should take place in March-April next year," the sources said.
Once the confidence vote is over, the government intends to push ahead with its 'unfinished agenda' that includes reforms in the insurance, banking and pensions sectors, they said.
