In the backdrop of apprehensions that Congress member of Parliament from Assam, AF Golam Osmani, may switch loyalties, the pradesh congress committee president said on Sunday that the Lok Sabha member will support the government in the trust vote.
"I can tell you confidently that Osmani will vote for the government," Assam's pradesh congress president Bhubaneshwar Kalita told PTI.
Kalita said Osmani had clearly told senior party leader Veerappa Moily that he is a loyal Congressman and will vote for the government in the trust vote. Dismissing reports that he was considering to vote against the government, a source close to the veteran MP from Barpeta said Osmani will never 'ditch' the Congress.
Osmani has had an ongoing spat with Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and even dared the latter to take action against him.
The MP, who is away in Silchar in Assam, could not be contacted, is expected to arrive in the national capital on Sunday night.
