The letter written in Hindi reached the district court on Friday afternoon. The letter states that important installations in the state would be blown up before September 2. It also states that bus stands, the deputy commissioner's office and the court premises in Bellary would also be blown up. The letter has spread panic across the city even as the police have directed the people to maintain calm.
The Bellary police rushed to the district court premises and security has been enhanced across Bellary which incidentally is the mining capital of Karnataka.
The dog squad has also been pressed in service and investigations are on. When contacted, state police chief R Shrikumar told rediff.com that he would look into the matter and take appropriate action.
