Yet another live bomb was on Sunday found in the posh Atwalines area in Surat, taking the total number of explosive devices detected in the diamond city to 24, the police said.
The bomb, which was found inside a bag near a bus-stand adjacent to the municipal garden (commonly known as Chowpati), was defused by the bomb disposal squad, they said.
The dog squad was also pressed into service to check if any other bombs had also been planted in the area, the police said.
As many as 23 bombs were defused in and around Varacha area of Surat, housing diamond processing units last week. Two cars laden with explosives were also found there.
However, none of the bombs exploded apparently due to faulty integrated circuit chips in them.
Surat has been on high alert since then and the police have been conducting combing operations and questioning suspects.
