Abdul Halim, an operative of the outlawed Students Islamic Movement of India, who has been arrested in connection with the Ahmedabad serial blasts, is likely to undergo a lie detector test, police sources have said.

Halim, who was apprehended a day after the July 26 Ahmedabad blasts, has been remanded in police custody till August 10. He is also wanted for inciting people to take up terrorist activities after the 2002 Gujarat riots.

During his interrogation, the police found out that he has links with one Karim Dunda who is wanted for 1993 Mumbai blasts and other cases and is absconding, the sources said.

They said Halim stayed in Ahmedabad's Dani Limbda locality where Dunda lived and knew him very well, they said.

"We also suspect that Dunda might have had some type of link with the Ahmedabad blasts. To verify this, we plan to conduct a lie detection test on Halim," the sources said.

Halim, a cleric, had taken over the work of religious preaching from Dunda in Dani Limbda area from where he was arrested after the blasts which claimed 54 lives.
