J&K: 2 Hizbul militants held

Two Hizbul Mujahideen militants, who infilterated into India from Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir, were arrested by security forces in Poonch district, and two AK rifles, two magazines, 65 rounds were also recovered from them, official sources said on Friday.

Two HM militants were arrested on Thursday night when troops, observing a movement near the fencing along the Line of Control, launched a search operation in Tarkundi area in Poonch district," they said.

The militants, identified as Mohammad Ishtaq alias Kamran and Amjad Hussain alias Nazakat of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit, infiltrated into India from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and surrendered when they were challenged, they said adding, two AK rifles, two magazines, 65 rounds were also recovered from them.

Both belonged to Gambhir Muglan area of Rajouri district and crossed into PoK for arms training in 2001.

They were trained in handling of weapons and explosives in the Balakote-based training camp in PoK.

The militants were handed over to the police for interrogation during which they said they were fed up with militancy and wanted to come back to mainstream society.

So they had surrender before troops to start a new life, they said.
