Twenty seven nominations were filed on the second day of filing of nominations on Monday for the second phase of elections in Himachal Pradesh scheduled on December 19.
Prominent among those who filed the nominations were: Forest Minister Ramlal Thakur from Bilaspur, Industry Minister Kuldeep Kumar (Gagret in Una district) and the chief minister's political adviser B B Butail from Palampur (in Kangra district and home constituency of BJP leader Shanta Kumar), election office sources said.
Sitting MLAs Harbhajan Singh Bhajji (Shimla), Anita Verma (Hamirpur) and Khimi Ram from Banjar in Kullu district also submitted their papers from different constituencies, the sources added.
Monday was the second day of filing of nominations. While notification for the second phase of election in the hill state was issued on November 23, no nomination was filed on Saturday and Sunday as these were holidays.
The total number of nominations filed so far has gone up to 30, the sources said.
Polling to the three tribal seats of Kinnaur, Bharmour and Lahual-Spiti has already completed in the first phase on November 14 in the 68-member house.
