The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in Gujarat will return to power winning 100 of the 182 seats in the assembly election in December, a pre-poll survey has projected.

However, the CNN-IBN-Indian Express-Divya Bhaskar survey shows a five per cent decline in the BJP vote share since the 2002 assembly poll.

Despite the decline in vote share, BJP still leads the Congress by a five per cent vote share margin securing 45 per cent of total votes.

According to the survey, this lead could fetch BJP 100 seats as against 76 for Congress.

The poll predicts a tie with BJP and Congress winning 88 seats each if saffron party's lead drops further by an additional four per cent.

The opinion poll suggests 63 per cent of the electorate is satisfied with the performance of the Modi government, a four per cent increase since 2002.

Fifty-five per cent of the electorate said the government's performance has improved on the power supply front in the past five years, 52 per cent felt there has been improvement in the drinking water supply in the state while 44 per cent were happier with the condition of government schools.

As many as 18 per cent Muslims polled believed there was an improvement in the law and order situation over the past five years, while 31 per cent felt the situation had worsened.
