Two persons including a Hyderabadi woman has been arrested in the Mecca Masjid blasts case, police said on Friday.
Confirming the arrest of a woman identified as Wazia Sultana, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Charminar division) B Reddanna told PTI on Friday that the accused was arrested on charges of providing shelter to two of the perpetrators involved in Mecca Masjid blasts in Hyderabad on May 18.
The blast suspect, who had taken shelter in the house of Sultana was Mirza-ur-Rehman, a Bangladeshi national and member of Harkat-ul-Jihadi-al-Islami.
Sultana was married to a Bangladeshi national Siddique-ur-Rehman, an illegal immigrant staying in Hyderabad since 1992, Reddanna said adding, Sultana was produced before a judge and has been remanded to judicial custody.
Both Mirza-ur-Rehman and husband of Sultana were at large after the Mecca Masjid blasts in which nine persons were killed, the ACP said.
Meanwhile, on the basis of the information given by Sultana, a special team of Andhra Pradesh Police went to Mumbai and took the custody of one of the two absconding suspects, he said.
The arrested suspect is being brought to Hyderabad on Saturday, he said without revealing his name.
