A day ahead of her first-ever press conference in New Delhi after her astounding victory in the recently concluded Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Mayawati, chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, conceded that she had used the new combination of Dalits, Brahmins, Muslims and other communities in the UP elections as a test case and now her party would apply the same to other states as well.
In an exclusive interview with NDTV that was telecast on Thursday night, Mayawati said she liked to wear pink because she wants to see pinkish smiles on the faces of the Dalit community, which had been suffering for a long time.
"I used Uttar Pradesh elections as a test case and we succeeded beyond imagination. Now our party will apply the same formation to other states and see if we can get the same results. General elections are too far away," she said.
She, however, refused to comment on the style of functioning of other parties particularly, the campaign style of Congress leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Rahul and Priyanka.
"It is the matter of another party and I would not like to meddle in it. It is for them to decide. We are supporting the Central government from outside," she declared.
Mayawati had no doubt that her government would complete five years in office.
