'Nobody deserves my vote'

May 02, 2007
Rupesh Kumar Chaurasia, a 21-year-old graduate who works as a computer instructor in nearby Bhelupura, says he won’t vote.

"Nobody deserves my vote. The Congress, the BSP, the BJP and the SP, none of them deserve it. None of them care for Uttar Pradesh," he declares.

"If they actually cared for Uttar Pradesh, would the roads that you just took to reach here be so full of potholes? Just see how many times the power went off in this very place we are standing," he adds.

Can young leaders like Rahul Gandhi change things for Uttar Pradesh?

"Rahul Gandhi? Look at the kind things he has been saying. He has said with pride that his family divided Pakistan. Is this the way a future leader talks? I think Priyanka is slightly better than Rahul Gandhi," says Devesh.

And he has just one word for Amitabh Bachchan’s endorsement of Uttar Pradesh: "Rubbish."
